Current Aquadettes Bios

Cindy Toerner

My family moved to Lake Forest when I was five years old. I spent summers swimming with my siblings and friends at the Lake Forest Beach and Tennis Club (LFBTC). Even though my family experienced the tragedy of my brother’s drowning at that club, my parents refused to “shield” us from the joys of swimming and other water sports.

My journey to become a healthier me included swimming. Once doing laps, I met some Aquadettes who encouraged me to try out. Artistic swimming completely takes me out of my comfort zone…a good thing. My dear Aquadette friends still help me improve.

At my FedEx job, I met my husband while delivering to his workplace. We bike ride, boat, target shoot, play pickle ball, and of course swim.

One other life-changing event I will share: In 1997, I was able to rescue two people from a plane that had crashed into Lake Isabella.
