Ruth Wardwell

When I retired from my career as a strategic communications and public relations manager, I envisioned finding new activities to enrich my life.  No way was swimming with the Aquadettes among them.  But here I am, initially drawn into the Aquadettes by two members, then welcomed by all.

Originally from the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, my extended family is here in SoCal. So as a youth, I was here often, then moved to OC as a young adult. One of my favorite cousins taught me how to body surf when I was only eight years old.

In high school, I twice elected to take what was then called synchronized swimming.  My two grown daughters also were high school swimmers. 

A Laguna Woods resident since 2017, I hike, beach walk, ride my bike, “try” to golf, play pickleball, and generally look for outdoor fun. 

I’m still a “tomboy”, so the follies’ costumes kind of freak me out.
