Lou Ann Hughes

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to learn how to swim. However, growing up in Canada, the closest I could get was bobbing around in the lake on my floatie while on summer vacation with my grandparents.

Fast forward to 2022…I learned about the Aquadettes on Jeff Goldblum’s TV show and I had an epiphany! Six weeks to tryouts, I started studying swim videos on YouTube.

With our dear Margaret in the pool guiding me, I managed to execute some of the basics, and backstroke the whole length of the pool for the first time!

I am so grateful to Coach Bunny for taking a chance on me, and to my fellow mermaids for their endless patience, support, and encouragement.

I have been married to Mr. Wonderful for forty-five years, enjoyed my career in hair and makeup, and raised two awesome kids. I am truly Blessed.
